fall favs // top three favorite outfits

I love me some New England Fall weather!! I’ve been on Pinterest looking for outfit inspiration and I wanted to share my top three favorite fall outfits!

LOOK #1 // blanket scarf + vest

blanket scarf // Charlotte Russe (similar one)

vest // Lands End (they no longer have it! But check their vests out here)

sweater // TjMaxx (similar one)

jeans // Gap Factory

booties // Old Navy

bag // American Eagle (all out but here is a similar bag!)

Who doesn’t love a big cozy blanket scarf?! I’ll admit, this was a complete impulse buy, but I love it! The colors are not only perfect for fall, but pretty much the color scheme of my wardrobe in general. The ivory sweater is a cable knit sweater from TjMaxx; the perfect staple. My down vest has lasted me the past couple of years, so not only is it warm, it’s durable! And I wear a lot of neutrals, so brown matches everything. My jeans and boots are from Old Navy, where I’d say about 60% of my clothes are from. They never disappoint! Lastly, my bag is from American Eagle. I love it because it is a mix of black and brown leather, and has a cute design. A little different than your typical oversized leather purse.

LOOK #2 // fur vest

vest // Forever 21 (similar one)

black tee // Banana Republic (similar one)

jeans // Old Navy

booties // Old Navy

bag // Target (similar one)

While my vest and black tee are from those stores listed above, I actually bought them at Plato’s Closet in Dedham, MA. I paid only $10 for the vest and $14 for the tee! I love the fur vest because it is a statement piece all on its own. And who couldn’t use a black long sleeve tee in their closet. My jeans are the perfect dark wash skinny, and the booties are the same as the first outfit.

LOOK #3 // green jacket + bean boots

jacket // J.Crew

sweater // Tjmaxx (similar one)

jeans // Gap Factory

boots // Tjmaxx (similar one)

watch // Target

I am obsessed with this J.Crew field jacket!! Not only my favorite color, but I love the gold details. I paired it with my favorite cable knit sweater and jeans (same as in look #1) and my (fake) bean boots from Tjmaxx! Classic New England look for sure. My watch matches pretty much everything in my wardrobe due to the greenish beige wristband and rose gold face.

There you have it friends! My top three favorite fall outfits that consist of neutrals + classic New England style. As you can tell, I do a lot of shopping at Old Navy, Tjmaxx, Target and J. Crew. I’m all about being stylish but without spending an arm and a leg.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!

trend alert // high necklines

I’ve noticed a trend recently throughout the stores and online: high necklines.

And I love it.

Not only are they in and trendy, but they’re super flattering and adorable! Rather than showing off whatcha got, this style exposes a little more skin elsewhere, extenuating your shoulders, collarbone, and neck. It’s a classy look and will be great come warmer weather! Whether it be a flowy tank paired with skinnies and wedges or a crop top paired with a maxi and sandals, you can do no wrong with this style. And if you got nothin up top, this’ll be a great style to try out. You can go simple with no necklace and a cute pair of earrings, or dress it up with a beautiful statement necklace. Your options are endless.

I’ve already started picking up a couple high neckline tops myself. OOTDs to come!

Today it’s finally feeling like Spring! So in honor, here’s an outfit of the day with this new cardigan I just bought (the color is so springy!).
I also had to incorporate my Starbucks cause why not?!
Unfortunately I have to work on this beautiful day, but I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

In a relationship with : Pinterest

As I sit here sipping my Starbucks (it’s an addiction, I’m aware), I thought I’d share with y’all how OBSESSED I am with Pinterest. But honestly, it’s a problem. Take a look at my “girly in me” board.

2,051 posts, and that number will probably change by the time some of you read this. And that’s just my favorite board. Yikes. I’m thinking I should compartmentalize it into different seasons or categories. But that would take a long time so we shall see. But as the title of this post suggests, I consider myself in a relationship with Pinterest because I have this habit of spending quite a lot of time with it. It’s where I go to express my hopes, wishes, and dreams! It gives me life advice, and listens as to me (as I talk to myself in a room alone….jk promise that doesn’t actually happen), and it just gets me. If you ask any of my friends to describe me, I can guarantee you Pinterest would be in there. Not sure if I should be ashamed of this fact or proud…oh well.

Nonetheless, if I had to pick my favorite idea or inspirational pin at the moment, it’d be this:

Recently, I’ve been pinning a lot of flannel, fur vests, and preppy looks. This outfit pretty much sums up my favorite look this season.

I’m not sure how I feel about duck boots though. I like them on other people, but not sure if they are meant for me. As for the accessories shown, I LOVE crew socks (perfect for my favorite Steve Madden combat boots), leather crossbodies, watches, and monogram necklaces.

I have come to love monogrammed items and was psyched when I found a monogram C necklace at the Paper Store for only $6.50! It will for sure show up in a post soon, as I wear it almost everyday.

As for a fur vest, I LOVE the look!!! I have yet to find a nice, neutral colored one that’s not too long and not $200. If anyone knows where I can find one, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave a comment! I’m dying to have one! It’s such a bold look, and so stylish. It’s just perfect. *sigh*

So that’s that. Preppy laid back look is what I’m into at the moment.  And I cannot wait until it gets warmer. It warmed up to a nice 50 degrees today! Woohoo!!! Hope y’all are having a wonderful Sunday (and happy SB48 for those who watch football, I rarely do).  🙂

*It’s been a little while since I’ve last posted…BUT that will change! I have some exciting things that I want to share in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned :)*

trend alert // Collared & Sweaters + Bargains

I am all about style. That’s why I have close to 2,000 pins on my “the girly in me” board on Pinterest. There’s something about a well put together outfit that just makes me happy. One of my favorite trends this season is the collared shirt under a sweater look, often put with a statement necklace. Although I didn’t add a statement necklace to this outfit, you can often find me wearing one, as I’m sure you’ll find to be true. But I absolutely love this look. It’s polished, stylish, and warm. And warm is VERY important when it comes to New England weather. Here I paired my Forever 21 plaid shirt and sweater with Steve Madden (my FAVORITE shoe designer by the way) combat boots. {Side note: My plaid shirt I actually got in the men’s department of Forever 21. I was looking for an oversized one and this one was perfect! Don’t be afraid to look in the men’s section of any store – I have a couple shirts that are men’s. No shame!!}

Right now would probably be a good time to mention that I am a bargain shopper. I don’t usually splurge large amounts of money on just a few items. That being said, I scored my Steve Madden boots at TJMaxx for only $70 last Christmas, while they are originally about $150. And I absolutely love them! They are very versatile. In addition, another score was my watch. I’ve been on the hunt for a rose gold watch lately and found one unexpectedly in American Eagle for only $20! They also offer a 5 year warranty on their watches (with limitations). So far it’s held up quite nicely and I’ve gotten many compliments on it. You could splurge on a Michael Kors, or get a nice cheep one and have some change left over.
