fall favs // top three favorite outfits

I love me some New England Fall weather!! I’ve been on Pinterest looking for outfit inspiration and I wanted to share my top three favorite fall outfits!

LOOK #1 // blanket scarf + vest

blanket scarf // Charlotte Russe (similar one)

vest // Lands End (they no longer have it! But check their vests out here)

sweater // TjMaxx (similar one)

jeans // Gap Factory

booties // Old Navy

bag // American Eagle (all out but here is a similar bag!)

Who doesn’t love a big cozy blanket scarf?! I’ll admit, this was a complete impulse buy, but I love it! The colors are not only perfect for fall, but pretty much the color scheme of my wardrobe in general. The ivory sweater is a cable knit sweater from TjMaxx; the perfect staple. My down vest has lasted me the past couple of years, so not only is it warm, it’s durable! And I wear a lot of neutrals, so brown matches everything. My jeans and boots are from Old Navy, where I’d say about 60% of my clothes are from. They never disappoint! Lastly, my bag is from American Eagle. I love it because it is a mix of black and brown leather, and has a cute design. A little different than your typical oversized leather purse.

LOOK #2 // fur vest

vest // Forever 21 (similar one)

black tee // Banana Republic (similar one)

jeans // Old Navy

booties // Old Navy

bag // Target (similar one)

While my vest and black tee are from those stores listed above, I actually bought them at Plato’s Closet in Dedham, MA. I paid only $10 for the vest and $14 for the tee! I love the fur vest because it is a statement piece all on its own. And who couldn’t use a black long sleeve tee in their closet. My jeans are the perfect dark wash skinny, and the booties are the same as the first outfit.

LOOK #3 // green jacket + bean boots

jacket // J.Crew

sweater // Tjmaxx (similar one)

jeans // Gap Factory

boots // Tjmaxx (similar one)

watch // Target

I am obsessed with this J.Crew field jacket!! Not only my favorite color, but I love the gold details. I paired it with my favorite cable knit sweater and jeans (same as in look #1) and my (fake) bean boots from Tjmaxx! Classic New England look for sure. My watch matches pretty much everything in my wardrobe due to the greenish beige wristband and rose gold face.

There you have it friends! My top three favorite fall outfits that consist of neutrals + classic New England style. As you can tell, I do a lot of shopping at Old Navy, Tjmaxx, Target and J. Crew. I’m all about being stylish but without spending an arm and a leg.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!

trend alert // high necklines

I’ve noticed a trend recently throughout the stores and online: high necklines.

And I love it.

Not only are they in and trendy, but they’re super flattering and adorable! Rather than showing off whatcha got, this style exposes a little more skin elsewhere, extenuating your shoulders, collarbone, and neck. It’s a classy look and will be great come warmer weather! Whether it be a flowy tank paired with skinnies and wedges or a crop top paired with a maxi and sandals, you can do no wrong with this style. And if you got nothin up top, this’ll be a great style to try out. You can go simple with no necklace and a cute pair of earrings, or dress it up with a beautiful statement necklace. Your options are endless.

I’ve already started picking up a couple high neckline tops myself. OOTDs to come!

Spring Dreamin’

I am done with snow. And winter.

Okay so I do love winter and colder weather, but really only during the holidays. Come January I’ve usually had enough and am ready to get into spring. But since spring is a ways away…I thought I’d share some of my favorite spring inspired outfits via Pinterest, because that’s the only outlet I have for when I’m longing for warmer weather.

The greatest thing about spring is that you can incorporate pieces from all seasons into your outfits. The weather isn’t quite warm enough for summer weather, but you don’t necessarily need a winter coat.

I think this outfit is my favorite pin on Pinterest right now. I’m slightly obsessed with those shoes – I love that they’re flats but have a cute ankle strap! And I love the cuffed denim paired with a simple white top and blush colored sweater. This is such a cute outfit for anything from being out and about or going out for dinner. I’m definitely on the look out for a pair of shoes like these and a cardigan in a similar color.

Classy, trendy, and flattering! Love the print of this skirt, and I love how it’s paired with a structured white crop top. So springy! And the crop top isn’t too cropped, and who doesn’t love a high-waisted skirt amiright?

I am always one for skinnies & flowy shirts. I love these two tops, and I’ve been looking for a flowy, oversized stripped top for a while now. And you can never go wrong with a cute chiffon top. Not to mention those cute shoes on both gals.

Here’s another outfit I love for spring! A high-waisted (I’m just a real big fan of high-waisted anything, can you tell?) skirt in my favorite color, paired with an adorable jacket, button down, and riding boots! This is such a transitional outfit, easily worn in spring or fall. I like the length of the skirt as well, not too short but not an A-line.

On a more comfortable note, I love this outfit for its laid-back look. Cuffed denim with Keds; you can do no wrong! Denim and Keds are great with a cute top or if you are feeling more laid back, just a sweatshirt or light sweater will do. It’s more of a casual look, but can still be stylish. If you’re looking for a cheaper pair of white sneaks like Keds, check out these ones from Target.

Ankle boots, sweater, collared shirt, and skinnies. The perfect combo for spring weather.

Fun fact: this blogger actually made those glitter boots. Her DIY is here. Once I find a pair of ankle boots to replace my old ones, I might try this out!

So needless to say, I’m very excited for spring weather to kick in, even though I’m a couple of months off. But Pinterest is keeping my spirits up! In the coming months I’ll be keeping an eye out for some of these pieces to add to my wardrobe, and will probably be adding to my list as spring gets closer.

{OOTD} Favorite Jacket & Statement Necklace

As I sit here waiting out this blizzard here in New England, I thought I’d share an outfit of the day from our last snow storm a couple days ago. A friend and I decided to go out and take some pictures while it was snowing, and it made for such beautiful photos! The snow is a gorgeous background.

Army green is one of my favorite colors to wear, and I love my military jacket from Old Navy. I paired it with with a cream sweater, flannel button down, a statement necklace, and riding boots. A very “Clarissa” outfit. And the best part? All these pieces were great prices!

Jacket // Old Navy

Sweater // Forever 21

Flannel // J.Crew

Statement Necklace // J.Crew

Boots // Lauren Conrad (LC Khols)

Jeggings // American Eagle

If you are caught in Juno like myself, stay warm! If not, be grateful you don’t have to shovel.

{OOTN} Night out with friends

I’ve had this top for a couple years now and I’ve never had a real occasion to wear it. But I decided to pair it with skinnies, sandals, and a bracelet for a night out with friends. Every time friends are home we usually make a trip into Harvard Square for college night at the restaurant Fire and Ice (only $10 with college ID!)

My aunt actually gave me this top, I think she said she only paid $10 for it! It’s a cream silk material with gold sequined straps.

top // Old Navy

jeans // American Eagle

sandals // Marshalls

wallet // Tjmaxx

{OOTD} Lucky Brand top find!

I found a Lucky Brand top from Buffalo Exchange for only $17! I love it because I don’t have a lot of red in my wardrobe and I love the style of the shirt. And it’s Lucky Brand so what’s not to love!

top // Lucky Brand (found at Buffalo Exchange)

jeans // American Eagle

sandals // Marshalls

{OOTD} Printed shorts

Printed shorts have become very popular and I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon. I got these blue printed ones from Marshalls for super cheap. They’re great cause they’re high waisted and I love the colors!

top // To be honest, it was part of a dance recital costume back in high school…so why not use it for something else!

shorts // Marshalls

sandals // Target

{OOTD} simple & basic

This is a simple and basic outfit and I love it. It’s perfect for a day of errands or a day at work. It also works perfect with my favorite J.Crew necklace 🙂

top // Gap

jeans // American Eagle

sandals // Marshalls

necklace // J.Crew

watch // American Eagle

bracelets // Alex + Ani

{OOTD} Summer // Fall Transition

Even though I wore this outfit during the summer (so sad right?!) this outfit could most definitely be used as a transition outfit into the fall! This particular day it just happened to be rainy and cool, but it’d be great for when the cooler weather sets in for good. I’m so obsessed with the jacket!! I’ve wanted a jacket like this for so long and I FINALLY found one I loved at Old Navy! It’s definitely going to get a lot of use this fall/winter!

jacket // Old Navy

striped top // LOFT

jeans // Forever 21

boots // Payless

necklace // J.Crew

I am very excited to inform you all that I have indeed (after over a year of searching for one) found a black romper!!!!!

If you read my post a little while back about my scalloped romper, you would see that I was still looking for a black one, and as I was shifting though a TJMaxx a couple towns over while my friend from New Orleans was visiting, I found this adorable one! Crochet detailing, buttons, flowy material…I LOVE IT! And it’s casual, and it goes perfectly with my fedora (pretty much the entire reason why I wanted a black romper in the first place).

It’s the little things people.
