Packaging is EVERYTHING

Hi all!

So many exciting things are happening right now: I’m starting a new (non retail) job in a couple weeks, I have some freelance projects in the works and (drumroll)….

I’m working on new packaging! YEAH WOO HOORAH YAY

Now some of you may be thinking okay….so?

Let me clue you in. When it comes to the creative industry, your brand identity and how you present yourself as a business is extremely important. This is how clients recognize and differentiate you from other brands.

I am currently working on creating a package for my photography clients. Presentation is everything and I want a tasteful and effective way to deliver my product to my clients. While I am still brainstorming ideas, I thought I’d share the beginnings of my process. Paper Source has been extremely helpful in providing me with the best product to create packaging that is unique to my business. I am all about the diy life and am excited to get these out to my clients.

Book a full session with me and you’ll receive a cute little package! I’ll be sure to share the final product when it is ready.

Craft Room Reveal!

I have been in the process of putting together a craft room for many months now, and it is just about finished! This is a room not only for crafting, but a place I can escape to, do homework, hang with friends, etc. I’m so excited!! I thought I’d share some of the DIYs I did for decorating. The room first started out as a play room when my siblings and I were young, and then turned into my dad’s den. And soon after it became more of a dumping ground for random stuff. When my sister came home and I started sharing a room, I asked if I could make it a homework/craft room.

I kept the desk area that my dad built when it was his den. It wraps around one of the corners of the room and I have storage bins on either side for storing desk and craft materials.

I was very inspired by Pinterest, and found a lot of different ideas for when I was putting the room together! Below are the pins I found (left) and my version (right).

(You can find my diy post on how I made this pin board here)

I had a lot of fun making these Pinterest diys! Some other little things I added to the room include a 2015 memory jar, canvas art, a deer head that I painted and applied glitter to, photo garland, a chocolate jar (no surprise), candles, a coffee mug turned pencil holder, a plastic cookie jar where I keep my paint brushes, and a couple picture frames.

I’m so excited for what’s to come while working in this room 🙂

trend alert // high necklines

I’ve noticed a trend recently throughout the stores and online: high necklines.

And I love it.

Not only are they in and trendy, but they’re super flattering and adorable! Rather than showing off whatcha got, this style exposes a little more skin elsewhere, extenuating your shoulders, collarbone, and neck. It’s a classy look and will be great come warmer weather! Whether it be a flowy tank paired with skinnies and wedges or a crop top paired with a maxi and sandals, you can do no wrong with this style. And if you got nothin up top, this’ll be a great style to try out. You can go simple with no necklace and a cute pair of earrings, or dress it up with a beautiful statement necklace. Your options are endless.

I’ve already started picking up a couple high neckline tops myself. OOTDs to come!

Spring Dreamin’

I am done with snow. And winter.

Okay so I do love winter and colder weather, but really only during the holidays. Come January I’ve usually had enough and am ready to get into spring. But since spring is a ways away…I thought I’d share some of my favorite spring inspired outfits via Pinterest, because that’s the only outlet I have for when I’m longing for warmer weather.

The greatest thing about spring is that you can incorporate pieces from all seasons into your outfits. The weather isn’t quite warm enough for summer weather, but you don’t necessarily need a winter coat.

I think this outfit is my favorite pin on Pinterest right now. I’m slightly obsessed with those shoes – I love that they’re flats but have a cute ankle strap! And I love the cuffed denim paired with a simple white top and blush colored sweater. This is such a cute outfit for anything from being out and about or going out for dinner. I’m definitely on the look out for a pair of shoes like these and a cardigan in a similar color.

Classy, trendy, and flattering! Love the print of this skirt, and I love how it’s paired with a structured white crop top. So springy! And the crop top isn’t too cropped, and who doesn’t love a high-waisted skirt amiright?

I am always one for skinnies & flowy shirts. I love these two tops, and I’ve been looking for a flowy, oversized stripped top for a while now. And you can never go wrong with a cute chiffon top. Not to mention those cute shoes on both gals.

Here’s another outfit I love for spring! A high-waisted (I’m just a real big fan of high-waisted anything, can you tell?) skirt in my favorite color, paired with an adorable jacket, button down, and riding boots! This is such a transitional outfit, easily worn in spring or fall. I like the length of the skirt as well, not too short but not an A-line.

On a more comfortable note, I love this outfit for its laid-back look. Cuffed denim with Keds; you can do no wrong! Denim and Keds are great with a cute top or if you are feeling more laid back, just a sweatshirt or light sweater will do. It’s more of a casual look, but can still be stylish. If you’re looking for a cheaper pair of white sneaks like Keds, check out these ones from Target.

Ankle boots, sweater, collared shirt, and skinnies. The perfect combo for spring weather.

Fun fact: this blogger actually made those glitter boots. Her DIY is here. Once I find a pair of ankle boots to replace my old ones, I might try this out!

* * *

So needless to say, I’m very excited for spring weather to kick in, even though I’m a couple of months off. But Pinterest is keeping my spirits up! In the coming months I’ll be keeping an eye out for some of these pieces to add to my wardrobe, and will probably be adding to my list as spring gets closer.

DIY Pin Board

DIY Pin Board

– Cheap cork board

– Fabric

– Decorative nails

– Staple gun

This project is so simple – all you need to do is buy a cheap cork board, find a fabric you love, and create! I found this gold polka dot burlap from JoAnn Fabrics and bought extra, but if you aren’t interested in having extra fabric, I would add at least two inches to the dimensions of the cork board and go from there. While I was in JoAnn’s, I picked up these decorative nails to add to my board as well.

Lay the fabric down and place the cork board face down. Fold the fabric over the sides and then fold the corners. Use your staple gun to attach the fabric on the sides. Make sure you pull the fabric tightly so that the fabric isn’t loose.

As a finishing touch, I used my decorative nails to create a border around the cork board. It’s a cute addition, as well as another way to keep the fabric in place.

And then you’re done! Great option for a gift or for your own space. I made mine when I started putting together my new craft room and I love it. Now to find some cute push pins 🙂

{OOTD} Favorite Jacket & Statement Necklace

As I sit here waiting out this blizzard here in New England, I thought I’d share an outfit of the day from our last snow storm a couple days ago. A friend and I decided to go out and take some pictures while it was snowing, and it made for such beautiful photos! The snow is a gorgeous background.

Army green is one of my favorite colors to wear, and I love my military jacket from Old Navy. I paired it with with a cream sweater, flannel button down, a statement necklace, and riding boots. A very “Clarissa” outfit. And the best part? All these pieces were great prices!

Jacket // Old Navy

Sweater // Forever 21

Flannel // J.Crew

Statement Necklace // J.Crew

Boots // Lauren Conrad (LC Khols)

Jeggings // American Eagle

If you are caught in Juno like myself, stay warm! If not, be grateful you don’t have to shovel.

2015 // New year, new goals, new aspirations

Hello friends!

So it’s been awhile…a couple months actually. I’m not exactly sure how that happened but it did and I apologize! But a month in to the new year I am ready to get back to blogging, and I sure have missed it. I’m excited for the new year and all it’s potential. I have lots of ideas and posts that I want to share with you all, so those will be coming your way in time!

When my sister came home last June, I was lucky to be able to gain a new space in my home to designate as a craft room (thanks Dad) since I am now sharing a bedroom. And my craft room is close to being complete! So with that off my shoulders, being able to work and create in it will be much easier. So in other words, more content for the blog 🙂

This year, I hope to achieve goals that I’ve set for myself and one specific goal that I want to share with you is this:

I want to do more of what I love: photography, blogging, creating, and enjoying the little things in life.

Life is flying by (uh I’m only a year and half away from graduating COLLEGE)

*side note I’m actually EXTREMELY excited about that though*

I don’t want to sound cliche but honestly that’s where I’m at – I keep going back to this mindset of just getting by and getting through life but my goal is to stop and enjoy where I am and who I’m with and what I’m doing.

Okay so cheesy rant over, basically I’m just excited for this year ahead and can’t wait to get back into blogging and sharing with you. I hope you all had a wonderful New Year and be sure to be on the look out for new content!
